Each year at Between the Worlds, our gathering focuses on a different facet of Queer Spirit—an evolving lineage of queer archetypes inspired by Gay Spirit Warrior by John Stowe and lovingly adapted over time by the Brotherhood of the Dark Moon. These Queer Aspects have become woven into the very heart of our community, shaping our rituals, our magic, and the journeys we take together.
In 2024 we honored the Warrior.
In 2025 we celebrated the Divine Child.
And now, in 2026, we step boldly into the realm of the Explorer.
The Explorer: Curiosity, Courage, and the Call of the Unknown
The Explorer is the part of us that hungers for discovery—of landscapes, of mysteries, of ourselves. They are the wanderer, the seeker, the map‑maker of the soul. Where the Warrior teaches courage and the Divine Child teaches wonder, the Explorer teaches us to follow the thread of our own becoming as it leads us into uncharted territory.
The Color of the Explorer: Yellow
For 2026, our guiding color is yellow.
- On the Gilbert Pride Flag, yellow represents sunlight—illumination, clarity, and the spark of possibility.
- Magically, yellow is the color of curiosity, intellect, and inspiration.
- In psychology and design, yellow evokes optimism, exploration, and forward momentum.
It is the color of lantern-light on a new path, of dawn breaking over a horizon we have not yet crossed.
A Lineage of Queer Spirit
From the Brotherhood of the Dark Moon:
“The Explorer is our curiosity. He is adventurous, perceptive and eager. He reveals the circle of men and drives us ever forward. He is the gay man just coming out and the Leatherman seeking the boundaries of pain and pleasure. He is balanced by the Shaman, and his shadow is the Flake. His color is Yellow.”
As each year unfolds, we continue this lineage—honoring, adapting, and deepening these archetypes in ways that speak to our community’s lived experience.
Walking the Path of the Explorer Together
At Between the Worlds 2026, we will call upon the Explorer and begin the communal journey of forging a relationship with our own inner seeker. What paths have we not yet walked? What truths are waiting for us beyond the next ridge? What parts of ourselves are ready to be discovered?
Throughout the year, Green Faerie Grove has been working closely with the Explorer archetype—both in our Grove Rites and in personal practice—so that when we gather, we bring lived experience, insight, and fresh magic to share with the wider community.
